Stitching Together the Fabric of Our Communities

What we do

City Thread is a national, non-profit organization working to connect people and communities.

We identify the right mix of partners, resources, strategy, and accountability to help local leaders think broadly about their projects and outcomes.

The City Thread team combines 50 years of experience in urban planning, marketing, communications, equitable public participation, fundraising, grant making, community engagement, strategic planning, and campaign management.

We collaborate with diverse teams of elected officials, city staff, community leaders, funders, and residents to identify problems, brainstorm solutions, and develop a shared vision to accelerate mobility and place-based projects.

Our custom strategies prioritize local coalition-building to develop organizations and launch campaigns that achieve success for everyone.

We are changemakers with proven success.

We use an accelerated approach to align existing political will and untapped support for community projects. We build coalitions and campaigns that achieve tangible outcomes in communities across the country.

We help organizations move faster and smarter.

We work with partners to build trust, increase capacity, and achieve broad support for projects that benefit people in the places they live, work, and play. We use replicable models that accelerate delivery of equitable services and amenities to residents.

We trust people to know what’s best for their communities.

We amplify and focus local community knowledge to achieve equitable outcomes. We partner with residents and neighborhood groups – the real experts in a community’s interests, needs, and priorities.

We believe cities can act with thoughtful ambition.

We identify the right mix of partners, resources, strategy, and accountability to help cities think broadly about their projects and outcomes. Healthy, authentic partnerships motivate communities to establish and achieve bold goals.
