FAQS
-
Communities have ambitious plans for safer streets, quality housing, clean water, vibrant public spaces, and other priorities that improve people’s lives. But too often, those plans stall before they become finished projects. The challenge is not always a lack of good ideas, funding, or technical expertise. Progress can slow when partners are not aligned, people do not have meaningful ways to participate, resources are fragmented, or there is no clear path from planning to implementation.
The Playbook provides a practical framework for turning ambitious plans into finished projects. Through the Technical Assistance Grant program, City Thread works with communities to assess their readiness for implementation, identify the barriers standing in the way, and develop a clear strategy for moving from planning to action. The result is a stronger foundation for delivering visible results and sustaining progress over time.
Improvements to the built environment take too long to implement, infrastructure is disconnected and incomplete, and poor messaging around projects creates fear and distrust, empowering a vocal minority of opposition.
City Thread’s community-based approach to mobility programs is rooted in the development of diverse coalitions that partner with local governments to achieve shared goals and build momentum for future success.
The Accelerated Mobility Playbook provides a roadmap for successful project delivery, network-focused implementation plans, and authentic community engagement that showcases existing popular support and enables leaders to get ahead of opposition and neutralize misinformation.

A clear, detailed assessment of where our city's internal and external strengths and challenges lie – and a roadmap for next steps – was the most valuable benefit of participating in the AMP program. With City Thread's help, we hope to put the plan into action and build the mobility network our residents want and need.
